the best place to start is in the Xbox FAQ forum and then make your way to xbox scene, them two will help u out allot, they did for me.

k, i have the bio and everything, but there's one problem: i cant get the cd tray to open. While I was at my friend's house, i checked and made sure that the screen showed up asking for the bio cd. But when i went home and tried turning on the system, it wouldnt boot up. The light would go on, but when i tried pressing eject, it would make a funny sound as if the cd tray was stuck. Do you think that the wires got loose when i was driving home?

same thing happen, just turn it off, wait for awhile and then try again, then u will need to flash the bios with bios cd, then you should install evox to make your life easier.

k, the cd tray is no longer the problem. The wires are intact, but i think there's something wrong. Sometimes it would eject, other times it wouldnt. But now i have a problem. I made a BIOS CD using the method on www.xbox-scene.com, but when i try to load it up on my xbox, it would say Loading, then something like "CD-Rom Label NEW" and it wouldnt do anything to it. When i tried the ozxchip flash The media im using is Memorex cdrw and fuji cdr. If it makes any difference, i swapped my thompson drive for the samsung drive. Was i supposed to leave the thompson drive in first, then swap it after i flash the bios. Any suggestions???

i highly doubt any drive will read any type of cdr so stick with cdrw. I also have had similar problems although with a different chip and I would bet that one of your solder points is the problem.
