hi i have just attached a new hardrive to my comp (windows xp), i can see it on my device manager but it isnt showing when i open 'My computer'
i set it like this :-

Prim Master - Old hardrive
Prim slave - writer
Sec master - cdrom
sec slave - newly attached hd

i tried switchin the 2 secondary around but it was exactly the same

I have also tried the 'add new hardware option' with no sucess

Any ideas anyone

it's not a good ides to attach a hard drive as slave to a CD rom. try setting it as slave on the primary with th e other hard drive.

Firstly, you can still burn on the fly using cdrom and burner on the same controller. You should have a burner with buffer underrun. If you do, then you wont have any problems. If you don't, then you shouldn't be burning on the fly anyway.

In management console, it will see the drive., then format it. And as insomniac said, if you have buffer underrun, then no need to worry.

Use the disk manager to formant it and add a drive letter if nessesary.
