I asume you plan on keeping your current procesor?

the intel 865 "springdale" chipset would be the best choice. it supports fsb's of 400/533/800 so you can use your current CPU and have a upgrade path for later. you will need to change your memory you can go with PC2700 DDR or PC3200 DDR just buy TWO sticks to take advantage of the dual channel capabiblity.

one of the best 865 boards is the abit IS7 it's affordable stable and fast. and abit has unlocked the "pat" technology in the 865 that intel locks out. so if you later move up to a 800 mhz FSB CPU you are all set.

yes I would be keeping the processor thats I have...would this board work for me too http://www.mplex.com/cgi-bin/shop/cp-app.cgi?usr=50X7030322&rnd=808176&rrc=N&cip=81.77.182.70&pg=prod&ref=mbd%2Fgiga%2F8ik1100&cat=intel%2Fmotherboards&catstr=HOME:components:comp%2Fmbs:intel%2Fmotherbo ards

that board will work as long as your processor has a 533 FSB the 875P boards only support 533/800 mhz FSB's they dont support 400mhz fsb CPU's

personally I would go with ASUS or Abit. I have seen one gigabyte 875P board machine and they never could get the dual channel to function vorrectly but that may have just been a problem with that one board.

Ive had nothing but head aches with gigabyte boards, go for another brand, and asus will be ideal.
