I am using DVDxCopy XPRESS to copy DVDs to 1 DVDR. I am having problems copying some movies. Some movies when you just copy the movie - they capture the wrong part (they capture a special feature or extra instead of the movie).....so...when that happens I burn the whole DVD to fit on the DVDR. The menu comes up, but when I go to click play...there is an error message on my DVD Player and it doesnt play. This has been happening fairly often. Some movies work fine, but others I am having problems with. It is almost 50/50 with success/failure. Any ideas? I even tried different media...it doesnt help.
P4 3.06ghz
1gb RAM
2 Sony DVD players (1 regular and 1 jukebox player)
windows xp
pioneer a03 dvdrw burner
I am not using any other programs when I burn
PLEASE HELP. thanks

i'm not an expert on this but when i want just the movie i use the dvd decrypter/dvd2one combo- this way you can use a program like power dvd to figure out yourself which vob series (vobx_y- normally x is 1 but i have seen other ones where the extras take up the first vob series) correspond to the actual movie (although dvd-decrypter is generally very accurate with this anyway- you have to rip in file mode not iso though as iso copies the whole image on the disc), and then you can just rip those using dvd decrypter. then load the files in dvd2one if you need to do any more compression to fit it in 4.37 gigs- otherwise i think you can then just burn with your software of choice
I only use dvdxcopy express if i'm burning the entire disc.
I was also under the impression that if you don't check the "entire disc" box you will lose the menu structure- if you are copying just the movie you shouldn't be getting any menu what so ever in the first place.

I imagine that you are using the latest release of X COPY XPRESS right? See if you can't find an older version (namely V2.5) and see if that doesn't work better. While it won't offer you as many features, I have yet to see the complaints list for it that the newest version has. If all else fails use DVD Shrink and then burn the folders with Recordnow Max in data mode. Both X COPY Xpress V2.5 and the DVDShrink/Recordnow Max method for a while and it has never produced a single coaster for me.

Thanks. DVDxCopy 2.5 seems to be doing the trick...HOWEVER...any suggestions on multi-episode DVDs? I was trying to back up a SpongeBob Squarepants DVD (10 episodes).....It didnt burn the whole thing with DVDxCOPY Gold. ANy ideas?? Or is there no way to do this properly?

I'm not sure if this program can even do Multi-episode DVDs. Then again I've never tried it.

not sure what you mean by multi episode- but i've successfully used both dvd shrink 3 beta 4 and dvdxcopy express 3.0 to backup CSI and futurama dvd9's onto 1 dvd-r's- while still keeping all menus and extras
with dvdxcopy express 3.0 you have to do it by ticking the copy entire disc box-dvd shrink 3 beta 4 will get sect the entire disc automatically.
As to which one to choose..... If you look for the thread posted by stevensly below about quality issues between dvdshrink 3 (beta versions) and dvdxcopy express you'll get bit more info.
