if you copy a dvd with macro protection on it normally goes mad doesnt it.

now then is it possible to re-copy the backup and remove the macro protection??

i did one yesterday and forgot about the macro protection but when i try and use the backup to make a good backup my program says there is no macro protection present.

can anyone tell me why this is

cheers

Not exactly sure what you are saying or asking, but ...... if you made a backup of a movie, you would have already decrypted the disk, otherwise you would not have been able to copy it.

Encryption and macrovision are two seperate things though.

some of the inexpensive `B`movies or `TV`movies carry no protection at all, some of the `A`movies ie, lost in space carry no macrovision protection.
what was the dvd title???
then again most ripping s/ware default macro off.

Well thats not complety true, I have copied 1:1 before just to see what happens and its all checkered board, and jumpy. Though that might be the case with the newer produced dvd's.

the movie was resident evil. and i did copy it 1:1. the macro protection has definantly came through to the backup as when i try and watch the movie it jumps all over the place etc.
but when i try to use the backup to make a good copy from i used dvd decrypter and that says no protection present even though i no there is.

any ideas

Try using dvd shrink to encode it.

Sounds rather weird ........ When you ripped the movie originally, with DVD Decrypter, did you definitely have a the settings correct i.e.

Tools/Settings/General with a tick in the box "Remove Macrovision Protection" ?

an/or when you made the copy of the copy .... hope that makes sense :hdspin:

How are you actually playing it back mate because unless you have a dvd player hooked to a video machine you cant tell whether or not it has macrovision.

first of all i didnt use dvd decrypter that's why i know it has macro on i used dvd xcopy xpress and this normally gets rid of the macro i think. secondly im playing the dvd in a stand alone dvd player and it changes colours and then jumps every so often. thats why i know it has macro on the backup.

when i put the original in to dvd decrypter it finds macro.

when i put the backup into dvd decrypter it doesnt.

so its really weird

just wondered if anyone knows what happens to macro if u burn it onto a backup does it hide itself or change the code

cheers

I use DVDdecryptor / DVD2one / RecordNow Max and this will copy anything perfectly.

e.g Johnny English, Star Trek - Nemesis, Chicago to name but a few.

So it must be your choice of software or your settings.
