It sounds like i'm desperate but i am. You've heard it all before, but i can't even use my pioneer dvr-a05. I thought i'd shove it in and i'd be burning dvd's straight away. I've got a liteon LTD163d dvd drive and a dvr-a05 burner. Can't get it to read the media, in any of the many programs i've tried - even the blank dvds'-that came with it. Burns mp3's no probs and plays dvd's through the software that came with it (sonic), but NOW! neither will read the instantcopy 6.5, supplied, burning software. Whenever i try to play dvd (in either drive) in windows media player, it shuts down. ALL I WANT TO DO IS BURN A DVD! Please send me some advice, i don't come here very often,so if there is any chance you could sent it to me by e-mail, i'll be forever in your debt.

cheers

Have you checked to make sure your jumpers are set correctly? i.e. DVD Burner set as Master and the Lite-On set as slave. Also are you sure you have a program that will decrypt the copy protected commercial DVDs?

what o/s are you using??? if not a winNT type you may need an aspi layer installing.
a couple of suggestions, after you check the connections as jesterrace has indicated-
just limit yourself to installing a couple of s/ware burning progs, say nero and recordnow max, (after installing your drives run the nero drive test/calibration feature on them both).
install one decrypter proggy and one shrink type proggy.
then any incompatiblities/conflicts with s/ware-system-drives will be minimal, then the dogs can see the rabbit.
also try just installing only one player, say winDVD or PowerDVD.
