I signed up last week on a good deal from Verizon on their DSL service. The first month is FREE and then the next 2 months are $29.95 a mo. and then after that it's, get this, $34.95 a mo.... (setup is free as well as all equipment) I've been on for about 3 days now and it seems very good. The speeds are fast and there's no problems with software conficts. The price is what's great and the service is really good. I called customer service due to and upgrade I needed for the MSN Messenger and they were very nice. It wasn't their fault it's that I wasn't thinking, duh... anyway it's a good deal and I thought you would like to know if you're in the market since the deal will end on 8/31/03 (the end of the month) Take care and enjoy... and BTW... the newsgroups are fast as well. That's a big surprise here for sure! Cya.......
I hate to advertise for anyone but the way prices are these days I know we all are looking for a better price on everything so I hope this isn't taken as spam because it's not my intentions at all it's just something I found out there on the net the other day, thanks....

Not everyone can get Verizon because it depends on who one has for local phone services. I saw that deal a couple of months ago but I couldn't sign up with Verizon because the only DSL I can have must be from SBC since I have my phone services with Southwestern Bell. I can sign up with a cable ISP, though, but I prefer DSL.

M8, I hope your verizon experiance is better than mine. I HAD DSL through them for a few months. About once a week, I'd lose my signal, and lose internet to all the PC's in the house (six total). This "loss" would last for a day upto 3 days, and after many calls to their tech support (idiots, all of them.........got tired of saying "yes, I turned of the modem and restarted it), they sent a tech to test my lines. Turns out I'm 300 feet outside of the DSL field of service. IT TOOK A TECH TO FIGURE THIS OUT! I was offered a discount on dial-up, yeah right. I know have cable and am much happier (1.5 megs down). Also the 30 bucks a month, well I'm still waiting to be credited for 3 months, where I got charged 50 dollars.................good luck. THe only good thing is other ISP's might lower their prices as well soon, just to compete..................just my 2 cents..................

Well, what are their caps, DSL has different speeds just becasue you got DSL doesnt mean all the speeds are the same across the board. Paying less can somethimes cost you more. Im just happy with my worldcom DSL reseller I got 1536/768 caps with a free profecional Cisco modem and free installation and set-up fees. Although I do pay more then $30, but they do provide newsgroups, e-mail, 5 static ips, 5x 25 mb e-mail acount, etc... And it has never been down for the time ive had their service.

I'll say this then... I had RoadRunner just a month and a half ago and it was the fastest I could get at that time and it's still the same (very fast).... now using the Verison it's just as fast! I haven't had any downtime yet because I'm near the downtown area, although not right downtown. The newsgroups are what concerned me but it's just as fast as the cable so I'm very pleased at that as well. The $30 is the best I've seen anywhere but I'm sure others will follow. And it is to bad that not everyone can get it. I like cable don't get me wrong but this is well worth it..... take care.
To say the least, it's taken me by surprise!
Read about it here... they extened the signup time to 9/30/03...
