Yup 105s are supposed to be able to READ + format discs they just can't WRITE to them. It makes sense though since most DVD Players can play DVD+R discs that a DVD Format computer drive should be able to read them.

Not all computer dvd-rom drives read+ though.I just had to switch out a NEW Pioneer 120 for a Liteon 166.The 120 could only read -.The Liteon 166 reads -,+ and ram.Why does Pioneer make a writer that will do +,then not make a reader for it?I have a 7 target dupe, and need a the most compatible reader.

My guess is that Pioneer didn't support the + format until a couple of months ago with the introduction of the 106. They Probably did it to protect the format that they were trying to promote at the time (- format).

From Pioneers white sheets, the 119 did not read +R either. It could be they read them, but not always perfectly.I know the spec sheet for the 119 and 120(in front of me) says in BOLD print"does not read DVD+R"!).They may read +RW,as some dvd players read +RW,but not +R. It went back, and the LiteOn went in!
