ok im a newbie to this so plz font laff lol.....
ok i just bought the advent 3317 package with a dvd writer included and got pinnacle free and am redy to start ripping and backing up my dvds.however,on the top of the tower there is a sticker stating spec and it says-
DVD-RW
However,on the moulded plastic tray of the dvd multi recorder it says,etched in the plastic disc tray-
DVD+REWRITABLE
so is it PLUS format or MINUS?

In "MY COMPUTER" under the e drive properties it simply says
DVD-RAM DRIVE
so what do i but?plus or minus blanks?
sorry if this sounds thick but i am TOTALLY confused and dont wanna shell out for the wrong blanks?
can anyone help and/or recommend good priced blanks that have a high chance of compatiblity?cheers

If it is a DVD-RAM drive then it is also DVD-R I think.

No idea, would be easier if you told us the exact make mate, should say so in the device manager section.

The drive is either DVD-RAM only or DVD-R/-RW and DVD-RAM. There currently isn't a single drive out there that supports DVD-RAM and DVD+R/+RW. My guess is you have one of the Panasonic multiformat drives which is DVD-RAM and DVD-R.

Could just mean its a dvd player and dvd rewriter drive.
Also, to get to Device Manager just go into Control Panel and double click on System, then from hardware choose Device Manager.

Then there IS the LG drive that is ALL 3.It does +/-/ram

there is no system in control panel m8 but i have found the model number and am relieved to discover it is a hitachi-lg(didnt know they had merged)and yes!it does all 3-albeit at different speeds,still it does minus format at 4 speed which is about as fast as anything does at present so im happy!
now to check the compatibility......lol

Glad to hear you found out what it is mate but you should have System in Control Panel, if you dont something cant be right.

youre right mate-i have!it was not on classic view and ive only had xp on a few days!my fault!
