hi,
i just need some honest opinions on what you think is better for making backups of my retail dvd's. currently i am using dvd decrypter, but have been hearing good things about dvd shrink. is there a copy quality difference between the two also.
thanks

Well if you are comparing DVDShrink to DVD Decrypter then presumably you are only comparing its ripping engine, in which case, no there is no quality difference, both will rip 1:1 exactly what is on the original DVD.
Indeed. DVD Decrypter just gets the DVD contents to your hard drive (and can burn too), whilst DVD Shrink can resize dual layer DVDs to fit on DVD-Rs. So you're comparing apples and oranges there.

Why not pick up both since they are free. I agree with the Statements above that the programs perform two different functions so it's impossible to say which one is better. I personally couldn't live without either of them. I use DVD Decrypter in ISO mode for all DVDs that will already fit on a single disc and I use DVD Shrink for almost all DVDs that need to be compressed, reauthored, ect.
