I have a Ver7 PS2 with an Apple chip. It will boot HK Silvers all day long, but when if comes to DVD-R not all games want to to boot. I made backups of:

Metal Gear Solid 2
Tomb Raider AOD
Tenchu
Soul Reaver 2

Metal Gear and AOD fail to boot, although when I first made backups of them they played fine..after about an hour they quit booting altogether.

Tenchu and Soul Reaver 2 boot fine, no problems at all.

All were done the same way following the Stomp Record Now instructions. All Disks are clean and all are on Verbatim DVD-R. All games are NTSC btw.

I have even tried adjusting the laser, not an easy task and I probably will not try that again I was thankful the thing booted after I got it back together :)

Please if there is something I am missing let me know....thanks

Did you clean your laser?

Have you checked to see if those games require a patch? There have been some complaints about Apple chips and not booting all games (similar to the cheap Magic 3.1 clones).

I thought orginial MGS2 is a dvd9. also, don't bother with tomb raider AOD, this game doesn't worth a blank dvd-r.

MGS2SOL is DVD5, MGSS is DVD9.

It may be the way you burned them, what program did you use.

Tomb Raider is a good game, I bought an original of it.
