Installing windows 98se
can any one help ..I've fdisked & formated the H/D but this is as far as I can get ..it says at the bottom of my screen
VERIFYING DMI POOL DATA ...and I can't do anything else..
I can't evan fdisk it again it just stops at that...(VERIFYING DMI POOL DATA)
trying to insatall Win 98SE

120 H/D
512 ddr rom
2.200 GHz processor
cd rom
dvd rw
F/d

The problem can be caused by,Corrupt boot files on the computer. Settings for hard disk drive are not correct. Boot devices not set properly. BIOS corrupt or misc. setting not set properly. Connections loose or disconnected. Bad Hard disk drive or other bad hardware.

I would guess the HDD has no the bootable files on and is attempting to boot from it

Try this.

Insert startup disc, at the A:\> prompt type "sys c:" <enter> you should re get report "File system transferred". Remove the diskette and reboot the computer.

Should sort it

Re: above, just in case do not type the quotation marks when copying system files to HDD

I had the same problem with my maxtor 80gb hdd HERE (http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=253348) is the addy. Windows 98 just kept jamming so I put ME on and it worked fine! Does your POST recognise the HDD? You might just have to install ME or higher.
