OmegaX Sep 13, 2003, 06:59 AM I downloaded the retail ntsc dvd version of Matrix Reloaded burnt the image with nero, burn was successful but the disc only plays on my pc. i used a dvdrw disc just so if it messed up i wouldnt have to throw it away but that doesnt make any difference as my dvd player is pal but is chipped, can read dvdr and dvdrw discs too. I put it in the player but it just spurts it back out after reading it for a few seconds. I used maxell 4.7 dvdrw media to burn the image.
Cameo Sep 13, 2003, 07:11 AM i'd try a different burning prog, Nero is pants for dvd burning and dont let any tell you otherwise.
OmegaX Sep 13, 2003, 07:13 AM what would be decent dvd software to burn dvd images
Cameo Sep 13, 2003, 11:02 AM Primodvd works quite well
OmegaX Sep 14, 2003, 12:46 AM isnt that like really old?
celtic_druid Sep 14, 2003, 01:49 AM Yep quite old, but no where near as old as mp3's and people still use that.
If you have a recent burner, then it may not recognise it. Try RecordNow instead. It uses the same burning engine and therefor should be every bit as reliable.
Cameo Sep 14, 2003, 09:11 AM I should have said RecordNow instead. It hard to spot the difference between the 2 anyway cept recordnow is alot newer.
nimbles Sep 14, 2003, 10:04 AM mate 95% sure its cos you used a dvd-rw.
if you are burning the iso you got from news groups directly then just use a dvd-r.
dvd-rw's are a pain- they somtimes work and sometimes don't- i've had instances of dvd-rw only playing in the drive i burned it in- even though i also have a dvd-rom drive as well
Caterman Sep 15, 2003, 05:00 PM Use Recordnow Max v4.5. I've had the same probs using Nero.

Funny as I have had that same problem. There were even a couple of times when my DVD-RW drive wouldn't read it the first time. However he did mention that his DVD Player did read DVD-RW discs. It could be that he is using Maxell media. They seem to be decent but definitely not the best.
nimbles Sep 15, 2003, 05:48 PM I hear what you're saying jesterace- but the rw's i had probs with are the princo 2x- the first disc actually burned fine and read in the dvd rom drive, the dvd player i have and the xbox- took the second disc out of the batch and subsequent discs for that matter and all i can do with them is write and read off my 105
I spent £3 on a couple of 1x verbatim dvd-rw and they work pretty well on everything- but got annoyed with the slowness of burning so went for a couple of pioneer 2x's (at £4/disc!!!) and they work in the dvdrom drive and the stand alone dvd player nut not in the xbox- haven't tried burning at 1x yet- but that kind of defeats the point of buying them in the first place
The annoying thing is i only use the rw's to test xbox games (so long as your video_ts folder can be opened by power dvd i'm pretty sure that provided you stick to having an audio_ts folder and using decent media, it'll play on most dvd players) so those pioneers are not that much use to me!!
Tom Croydon Sep 18, 2003, 12:29 PM When you use Nero to make DVD's, if you choose the incorrect options in the ISO field, you will end up with a DVD that will play ONLY on a PC...your stand alone player will attempt to read the DVD but it will soon eject it or just not play it at all. When you choose to make a new DVD, under the ISO options, select ONLY " ISO Level 1 " and " ISO 9660 ". I have made DVD's on DVD-R and -RW using only Nero and I've never had any problems which weren't caused by faulty disks. Good luck!
