saw this ritek dvds does this work ok ?

i havenīt seen anybody talking about these...

Yeah they work okay but it is a rip-off. These cost about the same price as 3-4 single sided Ritek DVD-R discs. All they are is a DVD-R with 4.7GB of space on both sides of the disc, so it will kinda be like the old laser discs where you have to flip them over in order to watch both sides of the disc. There are several problems with these: 1. How are you going to write on them since both sides are readable surfaces 2. They are going to be harder to keep clean (easier to be smudged, scratched and generally harder to handle) 3. You will still have to flip them over so it really doesn't save you that much effort over switching discs 4. As mentioned above the cost on them doesn't make it worth it. Now you know why no one is talking about them.

Yup ... agree with everything jester has said ...... also if you mess up, it's a damned expensive coaster ;)

btw , why can't they 9gb on a recordable dvd?

Because it would need to be a 2 layer disk.

The technology to produce/burn 2 layer is very expensive and wouldn't be practical for home use, not unless you have a few million to spare ;)

Yeah, only the commercial companies have access to such expensive toys *sigh*.
