so far, i think office word 97 is by far the best version...... office 2001 is gotta down...

Like anything really, the newer the better. So Office 2003 I guess.

Well generally newer = more features, which if you don't need any of them doesn't really make it any better.

Could also mean bug fixes, but they have service packs for that.

yeah i guess so too after i installed office 97, it doesn't have those pictures gallery like the one at my school have..... :(

i'm using 2003, and it's great, but 97 is pretty good, still one of the best

i like all offices actually

I may be wrong here as I don't use office, but the later versions will only install on XP won't they??

If that's true, then newer may also mean an O/S upgrade as well?

Actually you can run Office XP 2002, (I wasn't aware there was a 2003 version yet), on Win98, ME, and 2000 as well as on XP. However I'm sure that that will not be something that MS will do indefinitely. :rolleyes:

For most of us, who do not use the Office networking features, Office 2K3 is very similar to O2K2 with a more colorful interface. However, as Elaine said, O2K2 can run on Win98 whereas O2K3 requires a min of Win2K with SP3 integrated.

Newer the better (you can always save the file in a older format if needed)
