Hi everyone I've just upgraded my system..... I've added a new Motherboard (MSI 865PE Neo2) & Graphics Card (MSI FX 5900), Its all gone fine, that is until I plug the extra power connector in to the graphics card, It then just crashes just after entering Windows.... If you then disconnect the extra power supply the system works just fine? I've installed new graphics drivers, and I don't think the system is over heating.... So does anyone know how to fix this???? Its driving me loopy!

My thought is that is that it might be my power supply, I've only got a 350 watt, but would this make the system crash????

If you've got any ideas PLEASE post here or drop me a line.... simon114@ntlworld.com

Kind Regards

Simon114

P.S I'm that desperate to get this fixed the person who helps me fix this.... I will give £10:tup:

Not all 350-W PSU's were created equally. :)

For your system specs, I would go for a 500W PSU. Especially, as I can remember from a Web article that the 5900 you have requires at least a 350W PSU.

Moving to Open.

as Van Nugent said all power supplies are not of the same quality. the one you currently have does not allocate enough power to the rail ( probably 12V) which you are plugging the 5900 into. go with at least a 400 Watt. and stay with Antec or enermax. the antec true power is an excellent PSU.

whatever you choose pay attention to the power supplied to the 12V rail and dont settle for less than 18A on the 12V and more is better.

Is that all?

Forget it.

We don't post on these forums for nothing you know!

If the problem occurs when you plug in extra power, then it's more than likely related to power supply, especially with your components.
