wrcasio Sep 22, 2003, 01:17 AM I'm getting errors every 3 minutes or so when playing Raven Shield and Army Ops. They for the most part look like this->
General protection fault!
History: UObject::ProcessEvent <- (InteractionMaster Transient.InteractionMaster0, Function Engine.InteractionMaster.Process_PostRender) <- UInteractionMaster::MasterProcessPostRender <- UGameEngine::Draw <- UWindowsViewport::Repaint <- UWindowsClient::Tick <- ClientTick <- UGameEngine::Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop
OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1665 MHz with 1023MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4400 (4523)
I have checked my hardrive to see if it was broken, I have reinstalled my video card drivers and I have tried to will my computer into being fixed, but nothing has worked. If anyone knows how to fix this, that would be really cool. I can no longer play games on my computer....... Chick Chick BANG.
Badidoh Sep 22, 2003, 02:12 AM overclocking pc???
if so, try going back to stock/default speed...and playing the game..
wrcasio Sep 22, 2003, 02:17 AM Forgot to mention that. I'm not overclocking anything.
Badidoh Sep 22, 2003, 02:56 AM well, since you're not overclocking, i cant say much, because, i use to get that error while overclocking, try updating the game with patches and see wussup
wrcasio Sep 22, 2003, 04:13 AM Anyone else have any ideas?
Lee2003 Sep 22, 2003, 06:20 AM Does this happen with all games or just these two? the thing is, these two games both use the Unreal engine, Make sure yopu are up to date with Direct X, 9.0b.
angel12 Sep 22, 2003, 11:40 AM Couple of things to try perhaps
1. can this game be played on another computer ( check if the game is not corrupt)
2. if you were able to play this game before can you system restore back to the point before the Game went T**Ts up
I appreciate you might have all ready tried these but just in case ... obv its a problem with the Graphics is there a more recent drive available for this card that you can use ?
wrcasio Sep 22, 2003, 05:07 PM That sounds like a possiblility, however I have the newest Directx. Game corrupt? Like the files on my hard drive are wacked? I reinstalled the game, already, so I know thats not it. I think if I were to system restore, it would cause more problems. I didnt think it was definetely a graphics card related problem. If thats the case, I'm going to try to run the games on my old Geforce2, see what happens.
wrcasio Sep 22, 2003, 06:31 PM The old card ran without any problems, besides a low framerate. I was thinking that maybe I just needed some fresh Directx drivers, but that didnt fix it. Is there some kind of "test if you videocard is broken" programs out there?
angel12 Sep 23, 2003, 05:25 AM Ok heres another thing you can try
Yes trying the G force 2 is a good idea it is more than likely it is the Graphics card
is the fan on your Graphics card working ???? if I remember the G force has a fan on the Processor - have you checked to see if it is working or have you tried opening the case and putting a fan near the card and run the game it may be working but not keeping the chip sufficiently cool enough ....
Other than that im afraid ive run out of ideas ..
;)
Bigsauce Sep 23, 2003, 02:47 PM hey man, i'm getting a very similar error. I just got a brand new Alienware with; 9700 Pro, 120 gig, 512 mb, Amd 2700+. Hopefully we can figure this out. I was wondering if there was any similaritys between our systems. What cd-rom are you using? I have a Pioneer I05 DVD Burner. I doubt that it is, but I hoping to find a solution to this mess. HALO for the PC comes out very soon.
Also, I tried everything everyone has said. Thanks for some help to anyone who gives it.
wrcasio Sep 23, 2003, 03:35 PM I was actually thinking that. When I took it out and put the Geforce2 in, I kinda pressed the little wire in, just in case. I put the Geforce4 back in, I got 1 error. But besides that I havent gotten any. I'm not that sure its fixed. I've been running Raven Shield practically nonstop to see if any error happen again. I'm thinking that over time, from all that vibrating and maybe me nudging the computer, that the wire was a little loose.
Weaksauce, I'm using a 52x Liteon Cdr drive and a Toshiba or Samsung, or some old junky dvd drive. Maybe its the ram. We both have 512, I'm assuming your using Ddr. If I do get the problem again, I'm going to put a whole dick load of fans in there and see if that fixes it.
Bigsauce Sep 23, 2003, 09:57 PM WeakSauce? How dare you ATTEMPT to burn the BIGSAUCE. Oyeah, good description, "that little wire in". Should be easy to find....
wrcasio Sep 23, 2003, 10:42 PM Calm down, dont explode on me, Jizzsauce. Theres only one wire on a video card.... and its little. I figured I didnt to give any more info.
