I'm looking at upgrading my storage & decided that 2 120gb disks would be the go in a type 0 raid array. Are there any pitfalls in having a raid disk of around 240gb with an XP os? The raid disks would be for data storage only (i.e. not to hold the OS).
Thanks.

If the data is important to you, I would suggest that you forget R/0 , as any one of the drive fails, your data are history, especially with the HDD of today, theres no way you can tell how long they will last, not to say the newer drives are junk, but from experience, I would not trust a pair of IDE on Raid/0, full stop.
If you are after security, try using Raid/1 , you will get 120GB out of the 2 drives, but you would sure feel a lot safer.

Thanks Duffy. Yes I understand that there is a greater risk but the data will be non critical. I'm pretty meticulous about backups. Will XP have problems seeing such a large drive if on Raid?

I would imagine this is down to your RAID controller and drivers. but I cant really see a problem with XP
