Last night it froze while kids were playing on winning eleven 7.

Players were still moving. Just no controller worked.

Turned off.

Came back to play today and it won't work.

What happens is:-
I press power on and green light comes on. Won't open tray. Only the fan is powered by the sound of it.

Opened it up as far as I can and the cdrom wasn't moving or anything when it was switched on.

When I held the green button to turn off it delays for about 10 seconds then turns off.

It is not the power/eject buttons.

Any ideas?

From the way it sounds your drive died. Take the cover off and check the connections and make something didnt come off. If you havent taken one apart, its very easy.

Took it apart as far as I can. Can't find any more screws lol.

I got the top off the drive so laser is exposed.
Removed screws near controller/memory slots.
Can't seem to get into any interesting parts :(

Any diagrams/Websites???

Yeah it sounds like a dead DVD drive.
