I want it to be compatible with Winamp 2.91 and WinDVD5 plat.

The one here seems reasonable

But maybe there's a better or cheaper one available.

I've got the remote wonder works great it uses radio waves so you don't have to be in the line of site of the receiver it compatible with the programs you mentioned if you download some third party plug-ins the only bad thing about it is that i could'nt get it to work with USB 2.0 only USB 1.1.

I use to use the X-10 mouse remote a few years back. At the time it was wonderful. Controled the lights in my room, my tv, vcr, and whatever I setup to control on the computer. My only complaint was that it was a serial port and I had trouble with it in Win2k but this should have been worked out by now. I would check x-10.com and see if they have a USB version, if so then I would highly recommend it.

I also have a remote from x10.com and it works like a charm with Win2k. Its also a few years old, so it works via my serial port.

Derrick how did you get the X-10 software to work in Win2k. I tried for awhile and never got it to work. I can get the mouse to work and the mouse buttons but the program that allows me to configure the buttons on the remote I have never gotten to work. It installs fine but when I run it nothing happens, no icon is in the lower right corner either to show that its running.
