I have a LG DVD ROM as IDE1 Slave, LITE on CDRW as IDE2 Master and a PIONEER 106 as IDE2 Slave. The burner will burn from the hard drive OK but when i try to copy a dvd i always get an error "error reading source disc or words to that effect. I have had the problem with various films i have tried and also tried NERO and Recordnow to see if it has any differance. I am wondering whether i should put my DVD Rom and DVD Burner on the same IDE channel as when i try to copy i do not do it on the fly to avoid further problems. The problem is a read issue, perhaps there is a problems with the read head but different films stop at different times, there is no consistency other than the fact that it will fail!! Luckily i am not wasting blank media as it fails before we get to burning. Any advice would be great.

Nope ... keep your DVD-ROM where it is, but switch your 106 to the master on the secondary IDE channel, as this is preferable.

Sounds to me as though your LG drive may be finnicky about reading. Have you tried copying, by reading with the 106 ?

If it turns out that the DVD-ROM drive is the problem then I would highly recommend replacing it with a Lite-On. They are pretty cheap and really good at reading all types of media. That and it will save you alot of wear and tear on your Pioneer.
