Templar Oct 04, 2003, 07:07 PM Lite-On IT drives are excellent, and inexpensive. I think anybody here that has one will agree. Usually can be had for 35 USD or less. gadgerman Oct 04, 2003, 07:44 PM I agree Lite-on are the dogs danglies I have two a 166 and a 165 and both have given superb service:) nednedned Oct 04, 2003, 08:05 PM theres a new ben Q DRIVE THAT READS +/_ DVD-RS. i have a samsung sd-616 never had any probs. jesterrace777 Oct 04, 2003, 11:09 PM I would imagine that the Lite-On will read both + and - format DVDs. Anyways I will also vote for the Lite-On. A great drive that is inexpensive. DR69ON Oct 05, 2003, 02:10 AM Sony has a 16x DVDRom drive for 34 dollar shipped. but that's the OEM version, I still think it's a beter drive then the lite-on. gadgerman Oct 05, 2003, 05:08 AM It's not just about what it will read lite-on 166 reads +/- R RAM/ROM etc but how fast it will accurately rip and I've not seen anything faster than the 166 16X on DVD's handyguy Oct 05, 2003, 11:32 AM depends on what kind of computer its for. Easier to just clean the laser of the one you have to make it work better. jeepers94 Oct 05, 2003, 01:50 PM Easier to just clean the laser of the one you have to make it work better .................................................. .... If it is a dirty laser! He didn't say how "it's buggin out". There are a couple of drives faster at ripping then the Liteon 166.I do buy mainly Liteons myself though.I have 5 Liteons,a Sony,Samsung and a Pioneer. The Liteons have been the most dependable. |
