hi all, just wondering if anyone can recommend a good book that explains in detail about building a pc from scratch, pictures etc

There are Websites with this sort of info feely available... for example

Understand though, that no publication will be foolproof! either online or hard copy.
There are so many compatibility issues that it would be impossible to cover all bases.

The bulk of the procedure is there but you are bound to have issues with Software, either BIOS or OS installation but the best way to learn is to try it for yourself.
If you do have issues, this forum is an ideal place to find help, just make sure yo give as many details as you can when posting (i.e what specific hardware you have and OS you are using).
