Maplin sell ASrock too. I thought that they were in some way connected to Asus, maybe I'm wrong?

Yep, you're correct! Asus created Asrock to provide more affordable mobo's. The Asrock mobo's are good and offers lots of features but at low prices. One thing though, they are very memory sensitive so don't be surprised if the memory sticks that works good on other mobos won't work on the Asrock's.

There appears to be an issue with some of the boards if you try to use 2 sticks of SDRAM in them ie it won't boot up. So if you do go for one, I would recommend you use the DDR slots to ensure you don't have any problems. Apart from that they are very good boards for the price.
