every now & then my pc will slow to a halt & the floppy drive light will come on & u can hear it trying to read a floppy.

This only lasts for a few seconds then back to normal.

had this pc for a couple of years & it's only started doing this for 2 weeks or so.

any ideas?

One time I have had this........

Exported my Fav's in IE to a Floppy and although the Favourites were still on my C drive and set to read from there, the A drive would always try to read when accessing a favourite.

Re-exported to the c drive and fine from then.

May or may not be this, but would imagine it's something whereby you have exported something to a floppy disk.

Hoped that worked gooty. If not disconntect the power cable to the floppy and see if it still hangs. Its probably the floppy thats bad. Also reboot to clear any thing thats running.

This Answer may seem stupid but did someone install a joke on ur pc? There are some that read the floppy drives, other open and close the cd rom, some also shake ur screen and make millions of windows open.

If you have a program like that running chekc ur system try and close it then unistall the program..... or if it is inhabited by a ghost.... sell ur pc on ebay. youll get millions my friend.
