Kind of new to the whole DVD back up thing.. but anyway, I am using DVDbackup and when you drag the original DVD into the backup window, it lists all the files that are on the DVD. Now I know probably the bigger files are the movie files, but what are the other ones. They have extensions like:

video_ts.bup
video_ts.ifo
video_ts.vob
vts_01_0.bup

could someone tell me what files are what..like extras / menus.. and what ones could I remove from the list to just have a movie only with sound....so basically just doing a movie only, no extras.

I seem to be having a problem backing up my copy of Italian job, as I use dvdbackup and then bring those files into DVD2one, and for some reason a movie only will not show me any sound options....unless I do a disk copy, which I don't want to do. When I do click on the files within the option of movie only, each file has a sound option. But once click on each one, it turns your last one off.. confusing.. hopefully not..

Hope someone can help me out.. thanks

You need to do a bit of reading m8 to get the basics.
Start off here : http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/dvd-structure.htm

Have a look at DVD Shrink (freeware) this will rip & compress files for you and is easy to use. You can also choose between Full Disk or Movie Only and choose the compression levels.

There are some excellent guides for DVD Shrink too.
