Okay 1. How much are you looking to spend? 2. Have you taken a look at the difference between the - and + formats and decided which one you want (although most burners today, like the Pioneer 106, will write to - and + formats)? These are things we need to know first. Most of us here use quality DVD-R discs and love them for thier overall compatibility and price. However with the dropping costs of dual format burners it wouldn't hurt to have both - and + format burning capabilities. The Pioneer 106, The Sony Dru510a and the Plextor 708a are all at the top of the list right now for burners (all of which are dual format).

I want to spend upto £120 at the most really,I have looked at the different formats but couldnt really decide between the + or - so possibly the dual would be best.something I was thinking about is are there any burners which are more compatible than others with different software or media, like at one time with cd writers it was always plextors coming out on top burning everything thrown at em
see ya later

Yeah but he's located in the UK so that deal won't do him any good. Anyways Hogbreath you can pick up the Pioneer 106 (which will write to - and + formats) which has recently dropped to 100 pounds including VAT from SVP. Go to www.blankdiscshop.co.uk. A great value on this great dual format 4x burner. BTW just so you know that NEC listed on that site is cheap for a reason (you have two choices with that drive: limited media options or a hacked firmware which could potentially destroy your drive over a period of time). Also as far as media is concerned steer clear of the Datawrite/Datasafe/Bulqpaq labels completely as there are lots of complaints about these discs.
