It's been like a year since I bought a game or backup any of my games.
i use to use CloneCDv3
now that I bought C&C Generals and HalopC
I want to back them up.
I see cloneCDv4 is out now.
does version 4 do a better job of cloning or just cosmetic and user interface difference?
I have v3 installed if the the cloning engine is the same, then I don't want to upgrade.
so basdically is ith worth it to upgrade to v4?

Errr, CloneCD4 came out ages ago and hasn't been updated in some time.
Personally I would suggest Alcohol 120% or DiscJuggler for the above games anyway as CloneCD is somewhat unreliable when it comes to SafeDisc v2.8.x and 2.9.x.
Of course copying SD 2.8.x/2.9.x is very hardware dependant, so if you don't have the right burner then you won't be getting a 1:1 copy no matter what software that you use.

Good point Celtic. I was wondering if there was a place where I could find out what your burner is capable of. I just retired my liteon 24102b (it got tired and started producing to many errors.) I now have a sony 52x24x52 crx225e, and so far I haven't had a problem copying anything with alcohol 120%. Do you have any idea where I can get a rating on this burner?

Well I would think it is a rebadged Lite-On and as such quite capable when it comes to SD2.

Well, it's not an oem. I got it retail at newegg. I installed the same burner for a customer a few months ago and found it could copy anything my liteon could. That includes securom. (still need to emulate rollercoaster tycoon 2 though). That's when I deceided to purchase this burner. Virtually no errors when checked with cd speed.
Do they still have the 2 sheep check at clone cd?? Hmmm, I think I'll check it out :)
Thanks.

If you want 1:1 securom copies, then you should have bought a Plextor Premium.
Can still do copies with a Lite-On that don't require emulation, not exactly 1:1 though.

Is this the drive you are referring to?
Computer Hardware > CD/DVD Burners (RW Drives) > PLEXTOR > N82E16827106233
Plextor 52x32x52 PlexWriter™ Premium E-IDE (ATAPI) CD-RW Drive - Retail
If it is, I could have got it for 40 bucks more than what I paid for my sony
:(
