 I have a newly installed Sony CD-RW CRX225E OEM(firmware ver. QYB2). Windows 98 says it's working properly, but the software (I tried both nero and NTI CD-Maker) couldn't pick it up. I can use it as the source drive though, but the CD-RW is not on the destination drives list. I tried to reinstall the OS, and updated the Bios, still no luck.

The spec of the machine,

AMD-K6-2 400MHz
128 MB RAM
ASUS P5S-B board
Maxtor 30GB Harddrive as the primary master
Pioneer 16x DVD-ROM as primary slave
Sony CD-RW CRX225E as 2ndary master

Please let me know if anyone has a solution

Update your ASPI layer. search on www.google.com for ForceASPI 4.7. Download and unzip it. Run dumpASPI to kill of the standard win98 version then the install to add a good generic ASPI to your system.

Older software cannot recognize the newer burners. Make sure that you are using the more recent versions of the burning software.
