I cant get Championship manager 4 to work??

It keeps saying 'warning - memory dangerously low, please exit game and free some memory'.

Then it cuts off???

Its a decent-ish laptop, 1.8 gig and 256 mb ram.

Is it because its running win xp?

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I am not great with computers and I have only had the laptop for a week.
