Just wondering if anyone has tried this chip out? It sounds pretty good, but I'm interested in finding out a little more about it before I buy a bunch of them. Boot rate success? Quality? etc...
Thanks
***EDIT***
Actually,... here's the specs on the chip:
Duo Chip (US) Specifications:
- One chip for v1-v8 US
- 17 Wires
- Boot from browser
- Direct Boot of DVD9 Games
- Plays PS2 original imports
-Plays Backups on HK Silvers
- Plays Backups of originals (cdr/dvdr)
- Plays EA Backups (Without Patch)
-Plays Original Imports EA Sports
- Play v7 protected games on v7 machines
- Gameshark/Action Replay compatible
- The ability to disable the modchip.
-Plays PSX imports/backups
Sounds good, and the chip is pretty cheap (~$20US)

Is this made by the same people who made the 14 wire UK chip? If so than I wouldn't touch it as that chip had all kinds of problems. I would strongly recommend going with the Messiah 2 Pro or DMS3. They are more expensive but they have an outstanding track record and it will be much easier to get help if you run into trouble.

hmm... not sure who makes it. I would post a link to a site that is selling them, but I think that's not allowed on these forums.
I know the Messiah & DMS3 are excellent chips, but I'm just looking for an alternative chip that doesn't cost as much as the above two do. I'm currently installing Magic3.1 chips, which have worked just fine for me (except for the fact that they don't boot 100% of the time). I'm thinking about using MagicVs, which are supposed to have fixed the boot success rate, but I'm just checking out my other options.
Cheers

http://www.precisionmods.com/ has info about it...the owner posts around here as "moddogs" I believe. He's pretty reputable so I'd trust what he has on the site. I've seen on another message board that someone else has tested it and says it has a boot rate similar to Messiah 2.
I'm trying to decide on a new brand of chip to carry...I'm thinking the Duo or the Magic V w/V9 support but I'm waiting to see definite USA V9 support and possibly HDD support.
Unfortunately, I'm another one of the guys that got hosed by the Messiah 2...I'm seeing ~20% defective and thats way too much. Maybe the Messiah Team will buy the Magic Team and learn a little something called "Quality Control." :D ...wishful thinking, but I have yet to see a defective Magic chip.

He states on his website that it's compatible with v1-v7 machines, yet I've read elsewheres that it's also compatible with the v8 machines. True? I'd hate to buy a bunch of these chips only to find they won't work with the new consoles. Like you said above, the MagicV has the v9 support (or so they say). If this is true, it's a definite advantage for the Magic chip.

Best bet is to check the manufacturers site.
I think this is it: www.duomodchip.com ...its hard to get in, it seems like half the internet is down today :/
V9 support is a must in my decision...I'm anticipating ~80% of all installs during the Xmas rush will be V9's.

Just checked that link barracuda and it looks like it's not compatible with v9 machines. Not good. Like you said above, I'm sure most of the machines we're going to be seeing in the next while are going to be v9 machines.
Looks like I'm leaning towards the MagicV...
