Got some backups burnt with fireburner, Disk at once 96. They all ran ok on an early PS2 with neo 2 but I have tried them in a v7 with a magic3 mod and they will not play at all. Is it DAO 96 that is causing the problem and can the PS2 dvd rom have its firmware upgraded? Or is it the magic3 chip......which does seem to have a few problems anyway?

Try normal DAO...not DAO 96.

I realise that now. Want to try and use the exisiting backups without having to re-burn them DAO. Is it a lazer or firmware problem? As the early boxes had no problem reading DAO 96 or raw disks. Thought the drives in v7 were better than the ones in the old systems? Or is it the crap magic 3?

I'm not sure but I burn everything in DAO and they always work.
The Magic shouldn't have any problems with cd-r's on a V7...only a select few dvd-r's have in-game crashing problems.

I'd try one in regular DAO and see if it works, otherwise it may be an install problem.
