I'm using CloneCD 4.2.0.2 to my great satisfaction, but it seems a bit slow while copying "on the fly". It takes up to 25 minutes to copy a cd.
Since i have a burnier that supports up to 32x.... that can be done a little faster.....

Any ideas what i can do to speed it up a little?

at 25 mins to copy a cdr I'd suggest its only burning at 2 X.

If you made an image and then burned that back how long does this take?

image =

burning =

could also be your configuration, but I doubt that based upon the advice you have given in the past. Ive noticed with clone if I slow it down on the writing speed whilst copying on the fly, it always defaults to 4 x, dunno why it just does.. if i set it to the burners max then thats what it copies at.

The problem would be in the reading of the disc and since you are doing it on the fly, then you can't write faster than you can read. The reading could be slow based on copy protection or also based on the settings in the copy profile selected. CloneCD has never been about speed but about reading the CD properly to make an accurate copy of it. You could opt for creating an image instead of on the fly, that way your write speed would be independent of your read speed and can be set at a much higher setting thus cutting back on the time of the overall process.

"CloneCD has never been about speed but about reading the CD properly" True, true, very true... nothing beats CloneCD...

Should have sticked with that anyway i guess. On-the-fly is just a little to vulnerable for buffer underruns and minor read errors anyway, and who cares about using a Gig of HDD image-space nowadays...

The new owners of CloneCD, Slysoft, has just released a new version of CloneCD. Version 4.3.1.6 has now been made available. I'm not sure what the changes are as I've not yet seen this software. Just a point of interest.
