I just bought Max Payne 2 for PC and want to make a back-up of the game so that I dont ruin the original disk. I do this with all my games and usually dont have any problems.

I used Clonecd 4.2.0.2 to back it up. The first disk (Install Disk) does fine when I do and install, but when it ask for the 2nd disk (Play Disk) to complete the install, it will not finish installing. It will display an error asking for the disk to be inserted. Because the disk is in the drive, I hit retry, but it still wont work.

I tryed to use Alcahol 120%, but it errors out during the copy process.

Does anyone have any suggestions on making a good back-up of Max Payne 2?

I did the same thing. When I got that message, I insterted the install disk back in and it finished. My problem is now that it will not start up. I click on the desktop icon the cd will start to spin, hard drive light will come on, but nothing ever loads.

It is protected with Securom, so unless either of you have a Plextor Premium, then you won't be making 1:1 copies.

For CloneCD to create anything close to a working copy, you would have to patch the image first before burning with TwinPeak. With Alcohol you could also patch with twinsectors or go for emulation.

The other option is as always to just use a cracked EXE.

How do I patch the image file and what is twinpeak? Up till this point clonecd and alcohol 120% hae worked with out having to do any modafications to the file.

Thanks for you help deltic_druid.:)

As I said you could always use emulation with Alcohol 120%, that way no need for modifying the image.

TwinPeak is a program that with the aid of a BWA file (can convert from MDS) patch CCD images, inserting twin sectors to aproximate the same changes in sector densities that are used by securom v4.8.x to varify CD's.
