View Full Version : my cd writer stoped working [; ; win98SE]

hi well to start

i installed xp and didnt have the original driver for my cd writer and it didnt work with xp so went back to 98se and it still doesnt work
i dont know the make and model of my cd writer as it came in my pc

can anyone help or will i have to buy a new one

You don't get or need drivers for cdroms. Windows doesn't use or need them.
Is the cdrom set up and recognised in the bios and are the jumpers set correctly.

get a hold of nero or easy cd creator, that will get ur cd writer recognised, and allow you to write cd`s.

as Insomniac says, your cd roms dont need drivers, as windows recognises automaticaly.

its the software side of things that you need to sort out.

ie , cd writing software.
