I have some 2x dvd-r that are only 100% reliable at 1x but when I select 1x reording and press record the box comes up and says 58 mins but when it starts recording the time remaining drops to 26 mins and it records at 2x.

I have a pioneer 104 writer and Win XP pro o/s.

Anyone know if this is a bug in the program or if it can be fixed.

I'll have to go back and check the help file on Recordmax, but I believe it will set the optimal write speed for the disc and the drive. I know if defaults to 1x on DVD-RW.

You might want to check the help file inside the program or I will check it when I get back home and let you know. There should be an override somewhere.

You could always try upgrading the firmware on it. My ritek GO3 can record 2x now on my A05 because of a firmware upgrade

The Toe Cutter - have checked the read me file and no information.

bnbhoha - It is a software problem not hardware as I could change the recording speed with primodvd and version 4 of recordnow max.
