i'm trying to make a dvd from a XVID file using TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus. Under environment settings I've set the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader to highest priority. I'm using the wizard, I've selected NTSC then CBR Layer II. I've extracted the audio using AVI2WAV so my source video and audio are two different files.

the rest of the wizard runs without any problems, but when I click OK to start converting I get the Windows XP error saying TMPGEnc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

this error happens every time, even if i don't use the wizard. it's very frustrating! Thanks so much if anyone can help.

So this is an AVI then?

No need to instrease the directshow priority, just make sure that you are using a recent build of XviD.

Make sure though if the file uses bframes that you don't encode the first frame.

PS. Just tested my latest CVS devapi4 build and it works fine with TMPGEnc, although I have also tested dev3api builds without issues.

If this prob persists try uninstalling the prog and re-installing..Sometimes the simple ones work..Worth a try..
