develitate Oct 28, 2003, 01:24 AM I recently backed up a copy of "the sword in the stone" and whenever I try to watch it the movie stops right after the FBI WARNING. Ive tried it in 5 different dvd players and it does the same thing everytime. I opened the dvd-r in my PC and checked the files, they are all there and I can watch each VOB individually, but cant watch the movie from the start. I ripped and compressed it with dvd shrink 3.0 beta. Its been working great for me until recently. Any ideas what would cause this?
Lazza Oct 28, 2003, 03:01 AM I've just had the same thing on a couple of NTSC backups myself and am still at a loss.
I ended up copying and pasting the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder back to the HD and making new VIDEO & AUDIO_TS folders and burning to DVDRW after trying just about everything else possible and pulling half my hair out in the process. For some reason this worked on them, still at a loss.

develitate Dec 22, 2003, 12:26 AM Im still having problems with this and am forced to use dvdxcopy xpress, which I dont this is as nice as DVD shrink. So has anyone eles encoutered a similar problem of have any advice?
handyguy Dec 22, 2003, 11:28 AM I just let it run & eventually it starts.
I use dvdshrink which is free
develitate Dec 23, 2003, 02:30 AM thats the result i get when I use dvdshrink. I burn the dvd, then put it in my dvd player, the movie starts, the FBI warning screen comes up, and just before the movie jumps to the DVD menu my dvd player stops. It does it everytime I boot the dvd in multiple dvd players. I can push play 100 times and it always does the same thing, I like the movies ive successfully copies with dvdshrink, but the rest of the time it makes coasters.
NaughtyLondonBoy Dec 23, 2003, 03:44 AM i have ned kelly on dvd which plays for around 10 minutes and jumps back 6 minutes. this happens every 10 minutes, dont know what to do with it..
if u guys are having problems with dvd shrink, why not use pinnacle's instant copy? i think its lovely
PhilEnfield Dec 23, 2003, 05:01 AM Sometimes there are quirks, that are specific to certain disks or Movie Studios. I find it best to have more than one "tool in the bag" ... i.e. DVD Shrink & DVD2one.
If one doesn't crack it the other usually does .... not sure why, but always worth trying alternatives.
Mothumos Dec 26, 2003, 07:39 AM I had this happen to me a couple times and found out that it only happened with DVD with RCCE which is a region code checking. If you recorded the DVD with the RCCE, it will check your DVD player for the correct region code and if it does not match, it will not play. I had region-free DVD player when I had the problem, then I turned the DVD player to region 1 which was the region of the DVD, and it worked. I suggest that when you are ripping the DVD, you convert it to the region of the DVD player. Also, if you made the DVD-R region free, it also might have problems, so it is just better to set a region on it. In USA it is Region 1, but in every country it is different, so you should check which region your country is using.
