can I backup current pc games protected by lastest safedisc (2.9?) with my current burner, TDK CDRW161040XA, or do I need to invest in another brand - I have tried in the past (when safedisc 2 came out about a year or two ago) using a number of different burning programs and advise from this forum with no luck then just gave up. Now I have 2 computer systems (work and home) and it would be nice to have a backup at one location instead of carrying the CD around/handling it knowing it is my only copy of the game.

I very much doubt it, especially if you could even manage pre v2.51.x bacups. They are upto v3 now by the way.

A Lite-On or Asus 52X should do the job ok. Plextor Premium's are supposed to be somewhat picky when it comes to v2.9.x but ok with v3.x they are also the only drive I know of capable of anything close to a 1:1 securom v4.8.x copy.
