Has any one else experienced this?
This is a really odd one. This has been happening for some time, in fact it happens all the time. When I burn a CD or DVD using Nero v6.0, at some time during the burning process, my hard drive goes mad! What I mean is, there’s an excessive amount of hard drive activity. So much so, that it causes the buffer-underrun feature to cut in. This might happen once, twice or three time per burn.
Normally, my hard drive ‘busy’ light just flickers when burning. Then, all of a sudden, it goes mad! Both the ‘Used Read Buffer’ and the ‘Buffer Level’ drops to zero and the buffer-underrun feature cuts in.
My CD burner is a Lite-On LTR24102B and my DVD burner is a Pioneer 106. I only burn CD’s at 16 speed and DVD at 2.4 speed. My hard drive is an new IBM GXP120 ATA100 and is more than capable of supplying the data quick enough.
Even though the buffer-underrun cuts in two or three times per burn, I still get a successful burn (I always use ‘verify written data’). What’s really odd is that I don’t have this problem when using any other burning package i.e EZ-CD Creator, CloneCD etc etc.
Is there a option or tick-box I’ve missing somewhere when installing Nero? I'm running Windows XP Pro.
Can any one help me?
Thanks,
Jessica
