I got a DVD burner recently, and I wanted to know what mod chip or swap disc or whatever is best to play most DVD-R fulls. I am really refraining from getting a modchip, but if all the others arent that great, I may have to do.

None of the current no solder options are great for full DVD-Rs. However if you can wait a bit the Magic 3.0 Swap discs should be out in the next month or so and these should do the trick (You will need to install a flip top lid on your PS2 though). If you don't want to chance that then the 2 most recommended modchips are the DMS3 and the Messiah 2 Pro. They will definitely do the job, although make sure the person who solders them in really knows what he/she is doing. ;)
