Hopefully someone can help me out. Here's the scenario:
I have Windows XP (Media Center Ed.) and a NEC ND-1100A "all-in-one" CD/DVD burner. The problem is, I cannot burn CD-R/RWs on this drive. DVDs are burned correctly (using Sonic's software), but I cannot get the drive to burn one single file. The drive simply revs up, then revs down, then revs up, etc. and then returns an error message like:
Sense: 03 ASC: 73 ASCQ: 03 (Command 2A)
Which I have found out means "Power Calibration Area Error". I've tried all types/brands of CD media and nothing works.
I also have a USB CD-writer connect to this PC which works fine (on all brands/types of CD media), but this new drive will just not burn any CDs (I'ved used Sonic, Roxio, even windows media player to burn an audio cd - nothing works).
Some sites have said that it may have to do with DMA vs. PIO, but mine is set to DMA. Or the way the drives are set up (I also a DVD-ROM drive, so slave settings?? - bought the PC from Dell, so not quite sure).
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
