chids Nov 09, 2003, 02:16 PM Hi,
something strange has happend whenever i view a web page no images(gif etc) appear just boxes with red crosses. I,ve checked the settings (Tools, advanced show pics) and everything seems ok, also checked for spyware) it was working fine and i,ve not altered any settings. I am running a firewall and virus checker but have never had this prob before short of do a reinstall of everything i,m not sure what to do next, any advice would be welcome.
cheers

BlackDiamondJr Nov 09, 2003, 05:59 PM Your firewall settings could be too high. Try moderating the settings a bit or disabling it all together to see if it helps.
dpmanx1 Nov 09, 2003, 06:08 PM Maybe this site will help...

chids Nov 10, 2003, 01:22 PM Thanks for that , disabled firewall made no difference.
dpmanx1 ried that site but seemed more concerned with images not apperaring on selfmade web pages whereas i get no images on any page (unless i individually select every gif and click show picture)!
any more suggestions greatly appreciated.
chids Nov 12, 2003, 02:46 PM Anymore suggestions welcome, its taking me ages to get round a website with no piccys.

ElaineM Nov 12, 2003, 07:23 PM Go to Tools/Internet Options/Security and click the custom level button. Then check that under Microsoft VM, that the java permissions aren't disabled. Also check that under Active X and plugins(located in the same area) that they are set to prompt.
Other than that you might need to reinstall java virtual machine. If you need to, you can download it HERE (http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html).
chids Nov 13, 2003, 01:59 PM Thanks for that elainem. tried all you said, reinstalled VM and adjusted settings as you suggested but has not made any difference. Thinking about formatting my HD and starting from scratch, seems drastic but getting fed up with it.
Anybody got anymore suggestions pleeze

uk_trader Nov 13, 2003, 07:48 PM Go to tools internet options advanced theres an option somewhere under there something like
play sounds
play animations
show pictures
etc
make sure show pictures is checked. Its probably not your firewall as youve disabled and its still the same but if your firewall has the option of dns caching turn it off as that can intefear with pictures loading especially with free hosted sites.
chids Nov 14, 2003, 02:21 PM Thanks,
show pics is checked so it,s not that. As you say prob not the firewall as its disabled.
anymore ideas please.
chids Nov 16, 2003, 06:23 AM anymore advice more than welcome.
