Our PS2 had a little bump the other day and sorta stopped working.

It boots up to the browser screen, eject button doesnt open drive, and it doesnt read any cds/dvds put in the drive [had to open using white pin method, when i turned it on it took the cd in fine so the motor aint gone].

So I opened her up!

The little ribbon cable from drive>board is fine and attached.

Everything else *looks* fine.

With it open i turned it on, it takes the cd in and spins about a half turn and thats it.

I made sure the laser motor was working by manually moving it, turning on, looking to see if it reset to default position, it did.

I cant think what would be wrong with it, any suggestions VERY welcome!!!

Sounds like your ba chip or bios is dead, it might be time to sell the working parts on ebay so you can buy another one without having to pay the full price

Sorry :(

Check the flex PCB on your laser. It might be torn or ripped.

I have seen this on a dropped system before.

If you BA chip is dead, it will boot and play correctly, but will not open the door with the button.

It boots but just to the browser screen as if no disc is present, and it just spins a VERY little bit during boot.
