Hopefully someone can correct me if I am wrong but am I right in sayiong that you cannot do a restore of a Palm OS using the .bak file. User has deleted his .dat (Pratt) and I know the .bak is there for slow syncing, just wondering if you can or any third party apps can extract the data from the .bak

Gooner, as far as I know (with limited Palm knowledge), the DAT and BAK are data only, does not contain OS info, and the BAK file is really used for restore when the DAT failed, it cant be used on its own, kinda like a mirror backup of the DAT.

Thats what I thought, need to try and use the .bak to get the data back but there is no .dat but it can be if there is one there, tried to fool it into thinking one was there but a bit too clever for any dodgy workarounds. Have to tell him he has lost 8 Years of stuff. If he had gone out and got another PDA with the Palm OS on it and sync'ed it up with the data held locally on his PC all would be well right now. Why do they go around deleting files though willy nilly?
