What is the difference between the inkjet printable (white top) dvd-r and the regular (silver top) dvd-r? besides the obvious.

do they both functionion exactly the same?

do they both use the same metal azo dye?

are they both DataLifePlus?

thanks

Its hard to say, I have bought verbatims, and I dont think I will buy them anymore. They use ritek rye and some other dye, I have been getting the other dye, and nothing but problems. So I stick with riteks or fuji. I used to say verbatims were good, but now they screwed up and dont recommend them anymore. I dont even have the problems with princo, just those verbatims all of a sudden. BTW, I use a sony 500dru.

It is hard to say with the Verbatims. I have heard that they use 3 different dyes on thier discs: 1. Taiyo Yuden (awesome) 2. Ritek (Very Good) 3. Some other brand which I can't remember the name of (Crappy).

This is a problem as jesterrace says with certain brands, only way is buy one and check the dye manu as per the sticky at the top and if they are either 1 or 2 go back quick and buy loads. :)
