Hello, new here so will be brief.
Just upgraded my pc from AMD2700/MSI K7N2 mb pc2700 to a Gigabyte 8k1100 fsb800/P4 3.00 HT pc3200.
So far so good, system stable as anything, which is more than I can say for the AMD/MSI pile of rubbish.

Anyway to the point.

Took the DVD 106 out of old box stuck in new box:

ide1 P - WD 120gb 8mb cache
ide1 S - Nothing
ide2 P - DVD106
ide2 S - cdrw

Same as before config of ide channels, and I am getting event ID9 timeouts burning at 4x.
All the DMA stuff looks fine, I've used 100's of the media before, and it burns fine 2x on same media and fine 2.4x on +RW's and also burns cd's at full speed no problem.
Its doesnt fail the 4x it just pauses for ages about 3 times while burning.
And the above event id is in the xp system log.
It's not a desperate problem as i am just happy i can play BF1942 without BSOD's reboots etc all the time, 2 hours straight last night, and not a hitch.
