I am going to replace my dvd player in my computer, BUT I need to know something, I have tried all the software available to get my region code out of #1 area code, nothing at all works, If I buy a new player and place it in the same slot as the old one, will this new player get stuck on area 1 or will it let me choose, I need to know if my system has some sort of code installed that is in windows that might effect the instalation of a new dvd player.

thanks alot

You mean a DVDRom? Windows has it's own region settings, along with the drive. If you are serious about getting a new drive, then make sure that you get one that can be easily made region free, like a Lite-On.

Anyway, I fail to see how this is at all media related, so I am moving it to the main DVD forum.

Hi Stevoe & welcome.

Mods have a tough job & I'm sure Celtic Druid did not mean for you to think him rude ! He just put your query in the correct area rather than not be arsed & ignore your post.

Lite-on is a just a brand name for a manufacturer of DVD & CD readers/writers.
They are at the cheaper end of the market and loads of us have them so "hacks" are relatively easy to find to enable multi region.

Hope this helps m8

You could also use DVD region free or AnyDVD which is software that will sort out your problem.....

If you want to unlock your present DVD-ROM drive, you can do this with software.

Have a look at AnyDVD from Slysoft http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html

There's a 21 day free trial, so you have nothing to lose by trying it.
