ok ive been buring dvds for a while now no probs did the firmware 2x4all last year so been buring 2x ever since u could

just ordered some DATASAFEMEDIA 2X DVDR from svp the ones with white top with a silver thick line running through which says 2xspeed dvdr

so my firmware is 1.40 on my ao4 never had probs but these disk will only burn at 1x

does anybody no why

had same probs with my 104 after upgrading firmware to pioneers own to prevent burnout if using 4x disks. people suggest using hacked firmware to enable 2x burning on all media but have just upgraded to 106 so cant test myself.

Try a different 2x media and see what happens.

have m8 always used 2x since u could but these dvdr r marked 2x speed but will only write at 1x

They wont burn higher than 1x with pioneer official firmware, work with hacked firmware.(shame as they are nice discs for the price)

These 2x badged discs that only burn at 1x without hacked firmware are a joke they they shouldnt be badged 2x if they only work 1x(a few manufacturers are doing the same).

Suppose its just a backlog that arent being manufactored anymore,thats why they are such a good price.

yeh true as there not on svp site now and yes they where cheap but i only bought them as i fault they where 2x .....isnt that false advertising..lol

got same problem mate some of the disc burn at 2x (out of the same pack)and others just at 1x.
same burner, blanks and firmware .
