Hi guys. I have just driven miles to buy some blank dvd-r's and got home to find they are actually dvd+r's.
I am using a Pioneer dvr106d which is obviously capable of writing both formats but my question is, is Nero 5.5 compatible with +r and can I back up a dvd-r movie onto a +r disc.
I need to know this before I open the packaging as I won't be able to exchange them if I do.
Also, if I am able to make a back-up, will it be as compatible with stand-alones as the -r's.
The discs are Arita, which I believe are Ritek based.

Yeah they should work fine. Nero doesn't care about which format it is. As long as your writer supports it then you should be fine. Most DVD Players will read a quality DVD+R disc, so you should be fine, I don't know what to tell you if your player can't read them though.
